The Ambassador – Charity Times Awards
Earlier in the summer we ventured into the world of charity awards; we were delighted to hear that we have been shortlisted for Fundraising Team of the Year in the Charity Times Awards 2017!
The entry was based around the charity’s 40th Anniversary celebrations comprising of targeted campaigns and fundraising activities to honour the milestone. All of the initiatives had their route in the charity’s original, simple and instinctive premise – that breaks away from home bring hope and happiness to those most in need.
We had set ourselves the target of creating enough goodwill and raising sufficient funds to help 4,000 families in 2016. Through these carefully planned campaigns we exceeded our fundraising target enabling us to send a record 5,184 families away in 2016.
A few of the initiatives and campaigns that contributed to the success of the 40th Anniversary celebrations were involved were raising £250,000 from our colleagues in the travel and tourism industry through the 500 for 500 campaign, the launch of the A Million Smiles campaign with TUI UK & Ireland raising over £1 million and launching our national day, Shades Day.
Every member of the charity team contributed to the success of the campaign; the finance and infrastructure team seamlessly managed the increase in funds and the delivery team worked tirelessly to provide breaks to a record number of families, enabling us to spread a little sunshine to an enormous 55% more families than the previous year. Thanks also to all of you wonderful Ambassadors who supported us too!
This year’s winners will be announced at the Charity Times Awards Gala Dinner & Ceremony on 4 October 2017 at the Park Plaza, London. We’ll let you know how we get on!
