Be The Light

Dark navy rectangle with blurry christmas lights dotted along the bottom edge. The words "I just couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel" are on the left side, with a smiling Karen sat next to them. The words "Be the light" is written next to her.

“I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel”.

Covid has made many families lives harder. Many are already struggling. A short break offers a chance to recharge, reset and face the future in a different way. Some light, at the end of the tunnel.

The Family Holiday Association helps struggling families to take a break. The families we work with face issues such as long term illness, mental health, domestic violence, isolation and young carers to name some of the issues they face. All these areas have been negatively impacted by the lockdown and for the families we work with, a break is out of reach without support.

“It was something to look forward to, something to experience together, and a chance to spend fun quality time together as a family. It recharged our batteries and gave us more hope for the future.”

“The break away meant we could spend time together, in a family enriched environment. It took me back to my own childhood memories and happy times, which spurred me on to recreate more of those moments with my children. We laughed together and made those all important memories”, something we’d almost forgotten how to do. The holiday came at the end of my treatment for cancer, it gave me a focus and purpose to look forward to, the children – the same.”

“I’ll never forget the kids laughing and having such a carefree time.”
