Charity benefits from Alesha Dixon single
Singer and TV personality Alesha Dixon and production team Da Beat Freakz have today (11 December) released a brand new charity Christmas single ‘People Need Love’ alongside the festive video for the track which was filmed in the home of Christmas – Lapland.
The song, written and produced by Alesha and Da Beat Freakz (Uche Ebele, Obi Ebele and AD) and remixed by Ash Howes, is a heart-warming ballad that reminds us that the one fundamental thing people need in life is love. Alesha is an ambassador for the Family Holiday Association and proce
eds from the single will be directly donated to the charity, with the message behind the track resonating with the ideals of the charity.
Today also marks the release of the video for the Christmas track which features Alesha and her band enjoying everything Lapland has to offer including feeding reindeer, riding snowmobiles, meeting Santa and having fun in the snow, reinforcing the message that at Christmas time, quality time with loved ones is what is most important. Filmed earlier this month, it includes appearances from some of the 40 struggling families who, with Thomson, we helped to have the day trip of a lifetime to the famous Arctic destination. The trip, which Alesha joined by surprising those on board the special flight, gave families who are facing some of the toughest challenges life can bring, the chance to take a break and spend quality time together in the build up to Christmas. Enjoying a magical day in Lapland, they experienced festive activities such as sledging and meeting Santa, creating unforgettable memories.
Alesha, said:“The Family Holiday Association is a charity that’s close to my heart and one I’m proud to support. I think it’s incredibly important all year round, but most of all at Christmas time, for people to know that they’re loved and get to spend quality time with their loved ones, seeing the families together in Lapland was definitely the highlight of the trip.
“People Need Love is all about what people hold dear – good times, memories, true friends and family and above all, love – a really strong message that the Family Holiday Association also upholds and so I’m happy I can help spread this message by releasing the single for such a good cause. . Filming the video in such a magical place is definitely something I’ll never forget.”
Alesha and the families were joined on their trip to Lapland, which was given as a Christmas gift from Thomson, by Managing Director at Thomson, Nick Longman, and TUI Group Chief Executive and President of the Family Holiday Association, Peter Long.
Managing Director for Thomson, Nick Longman, said: “We’re really pleased to be able to offer a number of Family Holiday Association families a really special Christmas present this year. We’ve worked with the charity for over 25 years now and know that holidays are about creating memories that last a lifetime. Taking these well-deserving families to Lapland is our way of helping them to spend much-needed quality time together during the festive period.
“We’re also thrilled that Alesha could join us to bring that extra sparkle to the trip. People Need Love is an absolutely perfect fit for the message that we and the Family Holiday Association are hoping to get across and the video really captures the spirit of Christmas and quality time, whilst showing off just how incredibly magical a place Lapland really is.”
For over 25 years, Thomson and parent group TUI have worked closely with the charity to raise millions of pounds, allowing many thousands of children and their families to experience a much-needed, carefree few days away by the British seaside.
Alesha’s special charity Christmas single, People Need Love, is available on iTunes and Amazon now and proceeds will be directly donated to the Family Holiday Association. The video can be viewed here and on Thomson’s dedicated Lapland hub.
