Supporting our charity…

For more than 40 years, the support of companies has played a crucial role in the development and growth of the Family Holiday Association.

We work with many types of companies, big and small, in lots of different ways.

Our corporate partners raise funds for us in so many different ways! Some encourage donations via their staff or customers. Some organise events or activities for staff to get involved in. And some do something entirely different…

We’re putting the spotlight on some of the unique ways that our supporters fundraise for our charity!

Donation in place of a video

Rather than producing a corporate video for the ABTA Travel Matters conference earlier this year, the Travel Trade Consultancy donated the money they would have spent on it to our charity!

Martin Alcock, Director at the Travel Trade Consultancy said:

“At The Travel Trade Consultancy, we’re big fans of the Family Holiday Association and the vital work they do. My team and I feel really privileged to work in the travel industry, and we know the restorative benefits of a good holiday. It is heart-breaking to think that many UK families don’t have the means or opportunity to enjoy an escape from the stress of daily life.

“We were looking for a way to show our support and to raise awareness for the Family Holiday Association. We happened to be sponsoring ABTA Travel Matters, a conference attended by the great and the good of the UK travel industry. Sponsors usually get to show a glossy promotional video showcasing their services to the audience, but we aren’t really glossy videos kind of people! So we dusted off our Powerpoint skills and came up with this alternative.”

Donations in place of Christmas cards

The charity has been SVM Consulting Engineers’ charity of the year for 2018, which all kicked off with a donation in place of sending Christmas cards last year!

Throughout the 2018 partnership, the SVM head office has held bake sales in aid of the charity, and a team member, Ollie Miles, even took part in the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon!

Raising a fantastic £590, almost double his fundraising target, Mechanical Engineer Ollie said:

“I thoroughly enjoyed running the Royal Parks Half Marathon. It was the first time I had run for a charity and it certainly made the training and race day a lot more enjoyable knowing that the money raised would give families in need a well deserved break.

The race occurred on a very wet October Sunday, despite this there was still a huge crowd cheering on all the runners. The cheers from the crowd and the charity team were a really big help, it made the day really fun and certainly a moment I will remember!

I would highly recommend running an event in aid of the Family Holiday Association, the race day buzz and the fundraising accomplishment feeling at the end of the race, despite the aches and pains, is something I will always remember and treasure!

A big thanks to Coral and the team at the charity for the opportunity to participate and for all your ongoing charity work. It’s a lovely charity and you really do make a difference to family’s lives!”

A year into the partnership, Jennifer Rushmer, Accounts Manager, said:

“We’re so pleased that together we’ve been able to inspire our staff to take part in unique opportunities, whilst fundraising at the same time. It’s been fantastic to support such a wonderful charity over the last year!”
