The Jones Family

Jackie had been in a very violent and abusive relationship for a number of years. Life was very chaotic and, struggling to cope, she sadly lost care of her three sons, all aged between 6 and 13 years old. Later, she then lost her housing and all confidence in life.

Since 2014, she has been supported by a women’s housing association in finding a permanent home. Regaining this stability, she worked hard to have her three children returned to her care. And after finding a job, she soon found her confidence growing.

Her support worker at the housing association applied to the charity as she felt that a short break away would give Jackie and her boys an opportunity to spend quality time together, help rebuild their relationships and create some happy memories. The family had never been away before.

They had a wonderful time and were able to try new activities, go swimming every day and put aside difficulties of the past. As a result of the break, Jackie has enrolled at university and started saving, so that she can afford to take her children away by herself next year.
