Official Charity at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards

Posted on

We are delighted to announce that we are the official charity of the South West Tourism Excellence Awards 2017/18.

The Awards celebrate the crème de la crème of tourism businesses in the South West region highlighting excellence across 25 different categories, including the prestigious ‘Outstanding Contribution to Tourism’ award. The black tie event will be held in the Arena at the Riviera International Conference Centre, Torquay on Thursday 1st February.

Throughout the evening, attendees will have the opportunity to take part in a raffle in aid of the charity to win an array of wonderful prizes kindly donated by tourism businesses from across the region.

Alison Rice, Chair of the Family Holiday Association, will take to the stage to say a few words about the charity and our work. Alison commented:

“The charity has always shared a strong bond with the travel and tourism industry in the South West and I’ve personally thoroughly enjoyed working with partners in this region over the years. It would be wonderful to raise lots of money on the night to enable the Family Holiday Association charity to give back to the community by helping struggling local families who have never had a holiday together enjoy a much-needed break in this glorious part of the world.”

Funds raised from the raffle will help us to provide more UK seaside breaks and day trips to families facing some of the toughest challenges life can bring. The benefits of a short break or a simple day out for these families are priceless. It gives them respite from their daily struggles and the chance to create precious memories that they can draw on when times are tough.

Robin Barker, Director of Services for Tourism Ltd, who manage the Awards, commented:

“We are thrilled to be supporting the Family Holiday Association at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards – the first time we have had a charity partner at any of our awards events – and have a long-standing respect for the work that they do. We share an understanding of the importance and value of holidays and the Family Holiday Association provides breaks to struggling families who would otherwise miss out on the benefits that a break away from home brings. It is only fitting that we should now be working together in the UK destination of choice for families – South West England.”
