Last week of the season for families going on a break

Posted on

Our 2017 season comes to an end this October half term, with the last families of the year experiencing a much-needed break away from home.

The season began back in March and since then we have helped many families to have a short break or day trip, many for the first time in their lives.

This week 49 families are experiencing a short break by the seaside in a caravan, 16 of which are Family Holiday Association owned.

For many of the children we help, a seaside break offers the chance to paddle in the sea, build a sandcastle or fly a kite for the very first time. The joy of simply seeing other people smile can lift them out of their everyday cares and worries.

“It was so important to spend time together. It was just great to be able to get away from everyday life and bond together.”

We will soon be working on our Impact Report of what we have achieved this year, although we expect to have helped over 4,000 families. You can see what we achieved in 2016 here.

Family at SkegnessWe are due to re-open for applications for a break this December when we will launch a brand new online system. If you would like to refer a family to us and you’d like us to contact you when we re-open, please click here.

“The best part of the break was seeing the children playing freely like children again.”
