Host Unusual to support charity Shades Day in May

Posted on

Travel website Host Unusual have teamed up with the Family Holiday Association to become the first national sponsor of the charity’s Shades Day fundraising and awareness day in May.

Host UnusualShades Day supported by Host Unusual will be providing a package of support for Shades Day through their digital channels which will allow the charity to multiply their promotional reach to a wider audience. Activities will include messaging across all their platforms, content generation, approaching their portfolio of property owners and hosting a competition.

Shades Day is the Family Holiday Association’s annual national fundraising and awareness day when everyone is encouraged to wear a pair of sunglasses for charity whatever the weather. It takes place on Friday 15 May this year with activities going on all that week.

Wearing shades and sharing photos on social media using #ShadesDay helps spread the charity’s message that everyone deserves a chance to experience the benefits of a much-needed break. For many struggling families in desperate circumstances, the joy of paddling in the sea, building a sandcastle or simply seeing each other smile can lift them out of every day cares and worries and enrich their lives forever.

Launched in 2016, Host Unusual offers a hand-picked directory featuring the most unique and extraordinary UK and worldwide places to stay – from treehouses to lighthouses, churches to caves, quirky glamping sites to luxury holidays and beyond.

Commenting on the tie-up, Alex Wilson, Co-Founder and Director at Host Unusual said:

“We are delighted to be able to help the Family Holiday Association by partnering with Shades Day in this way. We’ve supported the charity since our launch because we recognise the huge benefit that breaks provide, particularly for the families the charity helps who are often coping with some of the toughest challenges life can bring.”

Coral Rushmer, Content Executive at the Family Holiday Association said:

“We’d like to thank Host Unusual for their wonderful support. We’ve seen Shades Day grow each year and with their support, we hope that 2020 will be our most successful yet.”
