Royal Caribbean UK & Ireland announces charity partnership

The Family Holiday Association is delighted to have been chosen as one of Royal Caribbean’s official charity partners for its ‘Go the extra mile to make eyes smile’ campaign.

Royal Caribbean UK & Ireland will be supporting the Family Holiday Association by organising a variety of different extraordinary fundraising activities and events for staff to participate in.

Angie Watson, the Family Holiday Association’s head of fundraising, says
“We help families in desperate need of respite: families knocked sideways by the toughest of circumstances. Evidence shows that a short, simple break in a caravan at the British seaside or day trip can really make a difference and help a family cope with whatever the future throws at them. We are thrilled that this new partnership with Royal Caribbean will help many, many more families for whom a holiday is a lifeline – giving them relief from daily struggles, a chance to smile together and create precious memories to last them a lifetime. What a gift to give!”

Ben Bouldin, Associate Vice President and Managing Director UK & Ireland for Royal Caribbean International, said
“Like the charity, Royal Caribbean, believe that spending time together as a family is priceless. We are absolutely delighted to be able to support the Family Holiday Association and our staff feel very passionately about the work this incredibly charity undertakes”.

The Royal Caribbean charity committee is busy organising a series of fundraising events leading up to Christmas.  There will be lots more exciting news on the development of this partnership in the months to come.

The last words for this story can come from families themselves…

  • “The holiday took us away from a bad time and helped put it in the past. I am eternally grateful for the whole opportunity”
  • “Spending time together has brought us closer together. We would wake up in the morning without troubles for once.”
  • “For those few days away we felt like we didn’t have a care in the world. Thank you for giving my family happy memories, I won’t be around forever but the memories will.”
  • “This break meant so much to us. My husband died suddenly two years ago and life has been pretty horrific since then. I thought I would never see the children truly smile again but this break helped to prove me wrong. It was so lovely to see their happy faces and such a relief for me”.
