Special Tourism Awards in Kent & Herts
The Family Holiday Association were delighted to present special awards recently at both the Kent and Herts Tourism Awards to recognise on-going partnerships between the charity and local visitor attractions.
In Kent, Maidstone-based Kent attraction ‘Kent Life’ picked up the award. It was presented by John Kinnear, Head of Programmes at the charity, who commented “We are thrilled to work with so many Kent attractions who have generously given us so many tickets over the years to help us offer family days out to struggling families having a tough time. This award really recognises that Kent Life have gone above and beyond this year, donating tickets throughout the entire year and helping us to deliver family days out to people that really need them.”

St Albans-based attraction ‘Willows Activity Farm’ picked up the special award for Hertfordshire. It was presented by Alex Bunney, the charity’s Partnership Development Manager, who commented “This award really recognises the work Willows Activity Farm have done this year, donating tickets throughout the entire year and helping us to deliver family days out to more struggling families in Hertfordshire. It’s good for these generous attractions to donate tickets and show their customers and staff that they are giving back to the local community.”

The awards were devised and launched in 2017 by destination specialists Go To Places – who deliver Visit Kent and Visit Herts – to reward exceptional standards of customer service and outstanding visitor experiences within the local tourism industry. Following an initial round of judging by an expert panel of independent tourism judges from outside each county, the shortlisted finalists were decided by public vote across social media and the Visit Kent and Visit Herts websites.
We would like to thank all the hundreds of attractions and accommodation owners who have partnered with the charity in 2018 and we look forward to achieving even more in the future.
