Our family holiday programme runs between Easter and mid-October each year. Families referred to us by frontline care professionals are helped to access a break away from home during this time, and their holiday usually comprises a day trip or a few days by the British seaside.
In 2017, we provided vital breaks to 4,137 struggling families. This was the second year running that the charity have been able to help
over 4,000 families with a day trip or short break away from home.
More than 9,000 children and almost 7,000 adults benefited with nearly two thirds having a break together for the first time. Based on on feedback we found that virtually all families (99%) had fun and created happy memories, with 93% reporting reduced stress and worries and the same number felt better able to cope after their break – an important and tangible indication of the importance of breaks away from home.
