Reuniting Lily with her sister

Barbara is bringing up her five-year-old granddaughter Lily, who was abandoned by her parents and separated from her older sister, Rose. Barbara worked as an

auxiliary nurse but had to leave her job to take care of little Lily, who often asks if it is her own fault that Mummy and Daddy left her.

We were able to award Lily, Rose and Barbara a caravan holiday by the sea. The family’s support worker told us: “The holiday meant the sisters could get away from it all. They were together again and shared their happy experiences. They do not live together and have been separated for good. They miss each other so much, but this holiday has given them hope for the future. We’ve all tried to explain to Lily that she is special and her Mummy and Daddy didn’t leave her on purpose, but it’s not easy.”
