Spread a little sunshine by wearing your sunglasses for #ShadesDay on Friday 19th May.
Shades Day is our national fundraising and awareness day when we encourage everyone to wear a pair of sunglasses whatever the weather.
It is the closest Friday to the UN’s International Day of the Family, and the day we recognise that thousands of struggling UK families never enjoy even the simplest break away from home.
Shades Day Fund
This year we are planning to raise £35,000 through the all-new Shades Day Fund to replace one of our sixteen Holiday Park caravans at the British seaside. This means the funds that you raise will go towards giving children and their families a break from some of life’s hardest challenges and help them to create memories that will last a lifetime.
Pledge your support for the Shades Day Fund here.
Get your colleagues together, grab a pair of shades and take lots of photos to share with us on social media using the hashtag #ShadesDay. Wearing and sharing photos in your sunglasses on social media for Shades Day helps spread the charity’s message that everyone deserves a chance to paddle in the sea, build a sandcastle and wear shades on the beach for the very first time. For many struggling families in desperate circumstances, the joy of simply seeing each other smile can lift them out of everyday cares and worries and enrich their lives forever.
Shades Day Stars
If you like what you’ve heard so far, why not pledge to become a Shades Day Star? All it takes is committing to join in the fun!
Pledge to either take part on the day with your team and colleagues, to hold a fundraising activity before December 2017 or by donating now to the Shades Day Fund. We will then help you to get Shades Day ready by sending you a fundraising pack and regular updates.
Can we count on you to dig out your shades on Friday 19th May and help spread a little sunshine?
Don’t forget that you can still help us to raise funds for Shades Day by setting up a fundraising page via our JustGiving campaign page, or simply by texting ‘SHAD35 £3’ to 70070 to donate £3.
