Sheffield Family Holiday Fund

Sheffield Family Holiday Fund1 in 3 Sheffield families, with dependent children, have never had a holiday.

In 1976 four local people decided to do something about this and formed the Sheffield Family Holiday Fund (SFHF). From small beginnings SFHF has grown to its current size. Families supported are those who are struggling with the challenges in life, including issues of severe and sudden illness, bereavement, disability, mental health and abuse.

Holiday for Allseasons40 years on, over 17,500 adults and children have received either a holiday or a day’s outing. The SFHF currently raises about £25,000 a year of which a large part comes from local Sheffield based charitable trusts. Regular donations are also received from church groups, individuals and sponsored events, such as charitable bike rides and local organisations adopting them as their ‘Charity of the Year’.

The SFHF is very closely affiliated, and has the same values as the Family Holiday Association. In 2005, the Family Holiday Association began sharing resources to provide families in and around the South Yorkshire city with short breaks, and were delighted to receive £25,000 to this aim in 2016 alone.

Family Quote Sheffield Family Holiday FundIn 2016, the SFHF supported 502 families and 30 different organisations successfully referred families for a holiday, short-break or day out funded by the SFHF.
