New experiences for the Jones Family

Mum Jackie had been in an abusive relationship for many years. Struggling to cope amid the chaos, she felt powerless as her three sons were taken into care. To make matters worse, Jackie then lost her housing. By now, any confidence she had in life had completely gone.

In 2014, Jackie’s search for a new home was supported by a women’s housing association. Having regained a little stability, she worked hard to ensure that her three children were returned to her as soon as possible. After finding a job, Jackie found her confidence was starting to come back. Her housing support worker then applied to the Family Housing Association in the hope that a short break away would give Jackie and her boys an opportunity to spend quality time together, rebuild their relationships and create happy memories.

The family, who ha never been away together before, had a wonderful time on their break. They tried new activities, went swimming each day and were able to put their past difficulties to one side. Jackie has since enrolled at university, and is now saving so that she can afford to take her children away by herself next year.
